Canada is cold...

So cold, in fact, that when I visited DC for the weekend, 50 degrees seemed warm to me.

In a last-ditch effort to avoid school, I went down to DC last weekend to introduce Bridget (staying in DC for two weeks to do some "political thingie" on the hill) to the Snapbro (who, coincidentally is letting Bridget stay with him and his room-mates in Casa Columbia Heights gratis).

All went well, and I got a change to show Bridget a bit of the Olde Alma Mater (including an actual authentic "college friend", thanks Drew!), as well as some of the touristy Washington attractions.

Here I drag Bridget all over the mall, in the hopes of catching some early Cherry Blossoms ...
About one tree was actually blooming:

  • You think Canada is cold? Try Poland. We're still getting snow on a daily basis. It's so cold that the little birds who have been stupid enough to return here are dropping out of the sky like so many frozen paperweights. The only birds that survive are the ugly yeti birds that seem to exist all year long in the trees outside of our apartment building. They only make it because they jacked some guy's space heater. That's why they build their nests so close to the power lines; they have an illegal power hookup.

They sit on our balcony railing mocking the cat everyday:

You want cold? You can't handle the cold!

  • Wow ... remind me never to cross you. Or, ya know, just cross you when you're at least one continent away.
