This is from a variety show: a form of television which has since almost disappeared. When I was a kid, the Ed Sullivan Show, the premier tv show of that kind, would serve up a plate of Chinese acrobats (exotic then), a musical number with formally attired men and women ( read evening attire), a comedien and his (her) dog (puppets), the Beatles (first time ever in the States), etc etc. It was totally fun, never missed in my home. The British seemed not to have abandoned this form of entertainment. Catch old reels of the Ernie Kovaks show or Phil Silvers for ancient American comedy. I think it originated in vaudeville, now that I think about it.

Also, when the Snap Mom was a kid dinosaurs ruled the earth, and Alec Baldwin was still Jack Ryan. Ancient times here people.
