Youtube strikes again...

As I discovered on the beach with friends a couple of weeks ago, Youtube has some fabulous vintage Sesame Street clips. I've been systematically watching them (uh, for the culture, yes yes, that's it). We first discovered the surprisingly psychadelic "Number 12" pinball segment .... although I seriously don't remember it being this long.

My current favorite is the Yip Yip Aliens...
I think one of these dudes is secretly Ernie ... shhhhhhh

  • How awesome/sad is it that I remember both of those skits almost perfectly? It illustrates that either I used to:

    A) Have an amazing retention rate
    B) Watch entirely too much television

If you have 45 minutes to kill you can watch the following YouTube clips:

-Stephen Colbert White House Correspondents' Dinner Part 1

    -Part 2

    -Part 3

-John Stewert bashes a local Indiana weather team

    -Follow-up to the previous clip

    -Terror targets in Indiana?

  • Thank you, Anna, for causing me to waste an hour looking at all the old Sesame Street clips! Oh, the memories! It is amazing how much I can remember from 1979 due to Sesame Street. These were fantastic. I never knew the pinball song was the Pointer Sisters.

Is it just me, or is Sesame Street just not the same as it used to be? Cookie Monster eating carrots and everyone seeing Snuffleumpagus. It is wrong. I'm a purist.

  • Brilliant!!! I used to have a computer program (used to as in high school, not pre-school) called Sesame Street Numbers and it had fab clips of old Sesame Street. Then, our house was robbed and the computer was no more. Now, thanks to you I can watch the Alligator King and His Seven Sons again and the one with Bowling Subtraction. YAY!! Now, if only I can get a copy of Power Pete my life will be complete.

By the way, when are you coming back? I miss you!
